Shipping Policy
Thank you for ordering from us.
If you ordered live plants or bulbs
I want you to know how we'll deliver your plants and products About half of our plants ship from our family nursery here in Summerville, Oregon. The other half ship from licensed partner nurseries in other states. Both are still Fresh Garden Living orders. I stand behind them either way.
If a plant does not arrive in good condition, please email me. Our Live Arrival & Thrive Guarantee explains how we make that right.
If you ordered anything else
Décor and some items that ship from the manufacturer follow that company’s shipping. Those rates also appear in your cart.
What to look for on the product page
Each listing tells you how that item ships. Please read those notes before you check out — they will save us both a lot of back and forth.
“Free Shipping on this Product!”
You will see this on many of our potted roses and landscape trees. If it is on the page, there is no shipping charge for that plant.
“Shipping calculated at checkout”
If you see this and you do not see the free-shipping line, that item may have a shipping fee. Some plants from partner nurseries do. The rate depends on that grower, the size of the plant, and your address. You will see the amount in your cart before you pay. We will not add a charge after the order is placed.
“THIS ITEM SHIPS IN THE FALL”
Peonies and many spring bulbs include this note. You are welcome to order now. The plant will ship when it is the right time to plant, not the day you place the order.
Pre-order and “Shipping: Starts …”
If an item is marked Preorder and shows a start date (for example, February 7, 2027), we will ship when that date arrives. The plant is not late — it has not started its trip yet. A pre-order can still include free shipping.
If you are not sure which note applies, send me the product link, and I will check it with you.
Who ships the box
From our nursery
We pack those plants here. They ship USPS Ground Advantage or UPS Ground.
From a partner nursery
They pack at their farm and may use USPS, UPS, or FedEx. That is why one order can arrive in two boxes, with two tracking numbers.
Décor and some items that ship from the manufacturer follow that company’s shipping. Those rates also appear in your cart.
How long it takes
When an item is in season and ready to go:
-
We process and ship within 1–3 business days, Monday through Friday (excluding holidays).
-
Orders placed on a weekend or holiday are processed the next business day.
-
After the box ships, delivery is usually 3–7 business days, depending on your location.
I cannot guarantee a specific calendar day. Carriers and weather can add a little time.
Pre-orders and fall-ship items start shipping on the pre-order release date and ship according to the right planting date for your zone.
You will receive a tracking email when that box ships. If your order is split, you may receive more than one.
Why an order may arrive in more than one box
A tree that is ready now and a peony that ships in the fall will not travel together. A plant from Oregon and a plant from a partner nursery will not share a carton. If you ordered several things at once, please allow each box its own timeline.
Where we ship
We ship within the United States only.
Alaska, Hawaii, and U.S. territories are often available. Delivery takes longer, and any extra rate will show at checkout.
Gifts
You can ship to a different address than the one on your payment. Please enter the recipient’s street address at checkout.
If you would like a short note included, email Karyn@freshgardenliving.com with your order number and the message.
When your box arrives
Please open it the same day if you can.
Take the plant out of the packaging. Water. Give it a shaded spot for a day or two before full sun or planting. Roses and trees can arrive with few leaves in fall and winter and still be healthy — please check the canes and roots, not only the foliage.
If the plant arrives damaged or you are concerned it did not make the trip, take a photo in the box and email me with your order number. Please do this within 24 hours so we can ship a replacement, if needed.
Common Questions
Will this ship from Oregon?
About half of our plants do. The rest ship from a partner nursery in another state. You are still ordering from us, and I am still here if you need help.
Why is there a shipping charge on one plant and not another?
Please check each product page. We note free shipping on the listing when it applies. If that note is not there, the fee is calculated at checkout.
I ordered a peony in August. Why hasn’t it shipped?
If the page says it ships in the fall, it is waiting for planting season. The same is true of a pre-order rose with a February ship date. If you need to change that timing — for a trip, for example — email me your dates, and I will see what I can do.
Can it arrive before the weekend?
Please ask before you order. I cannot move a pre-order or a fall-ship item up on the calendar. Even an in-stock plant needs 1–3 business days to process, then transit time. I will tell you honestly if the date is realistic.
Can I change the shipping address?
Email Karyn@freshgardenliving.com with your order number as soon as you can. Once the carrier has the box, I may not be able to redirect it.
