Nagami Kumquat : Small Tree, Big Citrus Charm
Bring home a classic citrus favorite with the Nagami Kumquat. Native to China, this productive tree has long been a symbol of prosperity and good fortune, especially during the Chinese New Year. The Nagami is the most widely grown kumquat in North America, producing small, oval fruit that's uniquely enjoyed whole—sweet peel and tangy flesh together create its signature flavor.
This self-fertile tree produces fragrant white blooms followed by bright orange fruit that ripens in late winter to early spring. It performs best in areas with warm summers and is the most cold-hardy of all kumquat varieties, making it a reliable choice for many home gardeners.
Ideal for growing in the ground in Zones 8–11 (protect from temperatures below 24°F), the Nagami Kumquat also thrives in containers. In Zones 4–7, simply grow it in a pot and move it indoors for the winter to enjoy fresh citrus year after year.
