Polaris Blueberry (Early Harvest)
Polaris is an early-maturing half-high blueberry developed by the University of Minnesota for cold-climate gardens. Its firm berries have an aromatic flavor, and its compact form works well in smaller gardens and large containers.
Polaris Blueberry Highlights
- Blueberry type: Half-high hybrid
- Harvest: Early season; timing varies by region.
- Fruit: Medium-size, firm berries with aromatic flavor.
- Plant habit: Compact, typically about 30–40 inches tall and 30–60 inches wide.

- Plant: Supplied as one plant in the seasonal dormant-plant program.
Pollination
Plant more than one compatible blueberry cultivar for more effective pollination and improved berry size and yield. Northblue is another University of Minnesota half-high selection that ripens in midseason.
Planting and Care
Plant in full sun and acidic, well-drained soil, ideally around pH 4.5–5.5. Keep the shallow root system evenly moist and mulched. In containers, use an acidic mix and protect roots from severe winter temperature swings.
